Persistent rain washes out 2nd SL-Bangladesh ODI Hambantota: The second one-day international between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh here was abandoned on Monday following persistent rain, which did not allow any play after just five overs had been bowled in the Sri Lankan innings.

Sri Lanka were 33 for no loss when rain stopped play and four hours later forced the umpires to abandon the game at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium. Openers Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kusal Perera were unbeaten on 10 and 18 respectively.

Bangladesh had won the toss and opted to field, replacing Tamil Iqbal and Abul Hasan with Mominul Haque and Jahurul Islam. Sri Lanka had fielded an unchanged side.

Sri Lanka are leading the three-match series 1-0, with the final game to be played in Pallekele on March 28....more
