
New Delhi: After numerous delays, the security lockdown of all Games venues is finally complete. While this comes as good news for the jittery foreign delegations, the spectators should brace for some heavy and stringent security checks. They should leave at home even things like coins and pens if they are planning to watch the Commonwealth Games.
The Games Village is finally locked down and no matter who you are entry will not be allowed if you don’t have an accreditation pass.
A four-layer security cordon has been thrown around the Games Village. All passes will be physically verified before letting in any one. Layer 2 would ensure every pass designates access to particular zones and guests will be accordingly guided. Layer 3 would entail entry to the tower based on scanning of the bar code on every pass as well as physical verification of the photograph on the pass. And finally, layer 4 would be X ray and manual searching after passing through the metal detector gates.
Security is stringent even in the main stadium. No one except the Prime Minister and the Cabinet ministers will be allowed in a private car. Even if a car manages a forced entry, there are 4 layers of security to tackle....
