Sibal proposes law to control fixing in sports New Delhi: In the wake of the spot-fixing scandal in IPL, Law Minister Kapil Sibal on Sunday proposed a law to tackle fixing and other illegal activities in sports in India. Sibal spoke to Sports Minister Jitendra Singh and proposed to plug the loopholes that help the accused to escape punishment.

Sibal, who recently took charge of the Law Ministry, made the proposal to ensure strict punishment for the guilty. The suggestion comes even as probe widened around the ongoing IPL spot fixing scandal that has shocked the cricket fans in the country and put serious questions on the credibility of the brand IPL.

Rajasthan Royals cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested on May 16 on charges that they spot-fixed certain matches in IPL 6. All three players, along with several bookies and fixers, have been arrested in the case and their interrogations are on.
