Barmer: A shocking case of medical negligence has come to light in Rajasthan. In the absence of doctors and nurses, a sweeper attended to an infant and chopped off the child's finger in a hospital in Barmer.
The sweeper was trying to remove the stitches on the child's finger. After failing to do so, he chopped it off and tossed it in the trash. The finger still can't be found.
When the child's father complained to the hospital, he was ignored. He then went to the police who refused to file a complaint.
The Chief Medical Officer later told the media that the sweeper had been fired. The police though has still not registered a case. "The patient's stitches had to be removed and the child's family was in a hurry. So, the sweeper said he himself will remove them. The child suddenly moved in the process and his finger got cut," CMO RK Maheshwari said....
