Pictures: Minor raped in Delhi, angry protesters hit the streets

Delhi witnessed anger on Friday and Saturday as the news of the rape of a five-year-old girl emerged. The five-year-old girl was raped in east Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area. Police said the girl was locked up in the room by the accused for almost 40 hours.The five-year-old is being treated at AIIMS and doctors say she is stable and responding to antibiotics. It was barely months ago, when the rape of a 23-year-old paramedical student in Delhi sparked public fury.

Day four at Galle belonged to Bangladesh and records as the visitors racked up their first 600 plus score with Mushfiqur Rahim becoming the first Bangladesh player to score a double hundred in Tests. Mohammed Ashraful and Rahim could only add six runs to their overnight partnership of 261, before the former fell ten runs short of double hundred with Rangana Herath taking the wicket. Rahim then compiled a 106-run stand with Nasir Hossain as he got to his maiden double hundred – Bangladesh’s first in Test cricket since their inception in 2001. Rahim got to his 200 in 320 balls aided by 22 fours and a six. He got out a ball later off Kulasekara.

Nation unites in mourning death of Delhi braveheart, demands justice for her

Protests continued across India as reports came in that the Delhi braveheart breathed her last at 2.15 am (India time) at a Singapore hospital on Saturday. The protests this time, however, unlike the last weekend, went on peacefully even as people stood by  their demand of capital punishment for the six rape accused. Meanwhile, the last rites of the girl were performed in the national capital on Sunday morning in extreme secrecy and amid high security arrangements.Sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik creates a sculpture in Puri, Odisha to pay homage to the Delhi braveheart. The 23-year-old student battled for life for 13 days.Men and women in Delhi lie down on the ground mimicking dead bodies as they mourn the death of a girl.
