Manmohan Singh meets Aung San Suu Kyi Nay Pyi Taw: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday met Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi during his landmark visit to Myanmar. Reports said that the Prime Minister has handed over UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's invitation to Suu Kyi to visit India.

"Our sincere belief is that in the process of national reconciliation, Madam Suu Kyi will play a defining role. I convey to her our best wishes," Singh said. Suu Kyi said India and Myanmar share interests in working together.

Singh, the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Myanmar in quarter of a century, and Suu Kyi held discussions for 45 minutes.

During their meeting which took place on the last day of the Prime Minister's historic visit, Singh handed over to the Nobel laureate an invitation from Sonia Gandhi to visit India to deliver the next Jawaharlal Nehru memorial lecture....more
