Ian Butler replaces injured Trent Boult in New Zealand CT squad
by AFP
London: Ian Butler was confirmed on Friday by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as an injury replacement for Trent Boult in New Zealand's Champions Trophy squad. Left-arm seamer Boult was ruled out Thursday of the three-match one-day series against England that started at Lord's on Friday.

Boult suffered a side injury during New Zealand's 247-run second Test defeat at Headingley, concluded Tuesday, and bowled just two overs in England's second innings.

An MRI scan on Wednesday confirmed the initial diagnosis of a muscle tear in Boult's right side. New Zealand said in a statement Thursday they expected Boult to be fully fit in six to eight weeks, effectively ruling the paceman out of the June 6-23 Champions Trophy in the United Kingdom.

Butler replaced Boult for the England one-day series, although he was not selected for the first ODI at Lord's on Friday, and his place in New Zealand's Champions Trophy squad has now been confirmed by the tournament's technical committee. ...more

New Zealand opt for all-pace attack in 2nd Test Leeds: Spinner and former skipper Daniel Vettori ruled himself out of the second Test at Headingley, ensuring New Zealand will take on England with an all-pace attack from Friday. Vettori's decision to put the team first rather than play a 112th Test and become the sole New Zealand record-holder for caps, means fast bowler Doug Bracewell will complement a seam attack with Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Neil Wagner.
