A Kanpur couple has alleged their 10-year-old son died because roadblocks set up for the Prime Minister's visit to the city prevented the family from taking the child to hospital in time. Aman Khan, a Class 2 student, suffered head injuries on July 3 after the iron gate at his home in Kanpur's Shyam Nagar fell on him. His parents tried to take him to a hospital but were allegedly delayed because of traffic restrictions in place in the city for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit. n November 2009, a man died outside a Chandigarh hospital because security in place for the PM's visited to the city prevented him from getting timely medical care. Heavy security cover for our politicians has often been known to inconvenience the common man, with some known to move around with a posse of at least 350 policemen. What can be done to ensure that VIP security in India causes less inconvenience for the common man?
