K'taka bans liquor sale, processions in view of counting day

Bangalore: Sale of liquor across Karnataka is banned for 24 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday and taking out of processions barred in Bangalore from 6 am to midnight on Wednesday in view of Assembly poll vote count in the state.

Counting of votes polled on Sunday will take place in 36 centres across the state, according to election authorities.

While an official release said liquor sale will not be permitted in the state for 24 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday, Bangalore Police Commissioner R Auradkar told reporters here that taking out processions are banned in the city.
