    In Pics: ICC Women's World Cup, India vs West Indies

    • Openers Poonam Raut and Thirush Kamini compiled a 175-run stand in 37 overs against West indies in the opening match of the ICC Women’s World Cup to give India a solid platform to push for a big total.

    • Poonam Raut played a couple of confident drives early on and hit seven boundaries as she scored 72 runs off 94 balls before getting out lbw to Shanel Daley.

    • Thirush Kamini smashed her maiden ODI century of 144 balls courtesy eleven boundaries and a six with a strike rate of 68.49. She was run-out in the 43rd over.

    • The 22-year-old Thirush Kamini, who debuted for India at the age of 16 against Pakistan, had a previous best of 65 not out and in 21 matches she had scored 282 runs at an average of 17.62.

    • In their defense of 284, India got the wicket of opener Kycia A Knight in the second ball of the first over as Jhulan Goswami and Amita Sharma bowled well in tandem swinging the ball both ways and keeping a check on the Windies scoring rate.

    • After West Indies lost early wickets, 21-year-old Deandra Dottin took the attack to the opposition clobbering four sixes and three fours en route to an impressive 16-ball 39. She was particularity severe on Nagarajan Niranjana but the Indian had the last laugh dismissing Dottin to end the West Indies charge.

    • The Indian bowlers bundled out Windies for 179 runs registering a massive 105-run victory in their opening match of the World Cup.
