Oscars 2013: The best and worst dressed on the red carpet

Jennifer Lawrence's Dior gown was among the best on the red carpet while many eyebrows were raised at Halle Berry's black and gold gown.

Best Actress award winner Lawrence charmed everyone in a beautiful, delicate ivory Dior gown. She kept the look simple and looked stunning.
Best Actress nominee Jessica Chastain matched her outfit with the colour of her hair and result was stunning. The strapless Armani Prive gown had beads all over which gave the gown a shimmering effect.
Jennifer Aniston usually doesn't disasppoint. The actress wore a red hot Valentino gown but we think the reason for that amazing glow was a certain Mr Theroux.
What was Halle Berry thinking? The otherwise elegantly dressed actress chose a Marchesa gown which made her look rather masculine.
Nicole Kidman's black and copper Balenciaga gown may have been a risky option in the middle of pastel hues but it paid off making Kidman look glamorous.
We love what Octavia Spencer wore a Tadashi Shoji off shoulder gown for the event. The actress cream gown was just perfect for the award ceremony.
Anne Hathaway described her Prada gown as "business from the front, party from the back". The look was simple but had an interesting back and accentuated Hathaway's new lean look to the hilt.
Amy Adams princess like gown by Oscar de la Renta gave a vintage feel. The gown was accessorized with diamond bracelet, earrings and a white clutch.
The beautiful Amanda Seyfried wore a silver grey Alexander McQueen gown which was understated and made Seyfried look beautiful.
The gorgeous Catherine Zeta Jones's champagne coloured gown was eye catching to say the least but it made the actress look absolutely breathtaking. Zeta Jones' gown was designed by Zuhair Murad.
There was everything in this gown that Zoe Saldana wore and that's perhaps why it didn't make for a great outfit. The Alexis Mabille dress was an unconventional choice and unfortunately didn't pay off for Saldana.
Jennifer Garner glowed in a purple Gucci gown and kept the look simple with a defined silver-diamond neck piece.
She has lost oodles of weight and yet Jennifer Hudson's gown by Roberto Cavalli failed to impress. Something was just not right about the gown. The colour, perhaps?
We know she is unconventional, but it's high time that Helena Boham Carter got her dress sense right. She looked extremely bizarre in the black-and-white layered Vivienne Westwood which didn't do much to accentuate her looks.

Maybe the fact that it was too blue, made Reese Withersppon's outfit a bit jarring. And didn't really do much to accentuate her looks.
