After Sujoy Gosh's 'Kahaani', director Ali Abbas Zafar has chosen Kolkata as the backdrop for his film 'Gunday', which stars Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.
Set in the 1970s and 1980s, the film is about Bikram and Bela who rose from being small time wagon breakers and coal thieves to becoming the biggest and most powerful black marketing mafia-men.
To be produced by Aditya Chopra under the YRF banner, 'Gunday' went on the floors in December.
After 'Band Baaja Baaraat' and 'Ladies vs Ricky Bahl', this will be Ranveer's third movie with Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner and the same goes for Arjun, who did 'Ishaqzaade' with them and also signed 'Aurangzeb'.
This is for the first time that the two actors are coming together on screen.
Zafar's directorial debut 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' was a hit of 2011.
Actor Arjun Kapoor said he is in complete awe of Priyanka Chopra and her performance in 'Barfi!', and says she is his favourite actress of the year.
Earlier, movies like 'Yuva' and 'Calcutta Mail' were also shot in Kolkata.
Priyanka also happens to be the cousin sister of Parineeti Chopra, who was Arjun's co-star in his debut film 'Ishaqzaade', which released last year.
Following the footsteps of biggies like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, 'Ishaqzaade' star Arjun Kapoor too will be taking a remake route to give impetus to his Bollywood career.
Arjun will also be seen in the remake of 2003 Telugu action film 'Okkadu', being produced by his father Boney Kapoor.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar, currently busy shooting for 'Gunday', says the entire star cast of the crime-thriller is headed to Kolkata to shoot in real locations.
The film's story is set in the City of Joy and apparently shows the lives of two small time thieves who later get involved in the coal mafia.
