Profile: Star kid to celebrity - Shruti Haasan's journey in cinema

Shruti Haasan, lovingly called Kollywood's blue eyed girl, is veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika Thakur's elder daughter.
Shruti featured as a child artist, sang in films and appeared in a various guest roles, before making her acting debut in the 2009 action drama, 'Luck'.
The glamorous diva is an accomplished actress, singer and music composer who works both in the South Indian film industry and in Bollywood.
Before plunging into full fledged acting, Shruti studied at 'Abacus' in Chennai and moved to Mumbai to study psychology at the St. Andrew's College.
Shruti sang her first song at the age of six in her father's Tamil film 'Thevar Magan' in the composition of the ace maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
While still in school, Haasan made her singing debut in the film, 'Chachi 420'. She sang a duet with her father in it who also directed the film.
In 2011 Shruti Haasan however made her Tamil debut with '7 Aam Arivu' along with actor Suriya. The actor who played a scientist was much appreciated and applauded for her role.
She made a cameo appearance in Kamal Haasan's 'Hey Ram' in the year 2000.
Eventually Haasan signed up to feature in Soham Shah's romantic action thriller 'Luck' opposite Imran Khan in July 2008 and shot for the film for a close to a year.
The actor then went on to appear in the promotional videos for 'Unnaipol Oruvan' and 'Eenadu', the bilingual films starring her father, which she had composed the music for. She made a further appearance in a promotional video for the horror film 'Hisss' starring Mallika Sherawat, where she had also sung a song composed by Dave Kushner.
Released in 2012 Tamil film '3' also earned the actor the 'Asiavision Movie Award for Excellence' in Tamil. The actor's character Janani was hugely appreciated by the audience.
However the actor who has 6 upcoming films in the year 2013 was last seen in the Telugu film 'Gabbar Singh' in a desi avatar.
