  • Although Rani Mukerji never really quit films, but over the years the bong beauty’s outing at the Box Office has become less. After enjoying stupendous success in the early 2000s, Mukerji’s has now become selective about the films she signs on. Here is our take on some of the films that we thought should have had Mukerji playing one of the characters.

  • People sat up and noticed a fabulous actress called Richa Chadda in Anurag Kashyap's 'Gangs Of Wasseypur'. Chadda's character, Nagma Khatoon is introduced as a young bride in the first part of the film and her character is shown growing old and eventually playing the mother to Nawazuddin%u2019s character. Rani would have done equal justice to Nagma Khatoon%u2019s character and showcased a character who goes character grows with the narrative of the film.

  • While Vidya Balan is actress par excellence, we think Rani Mukerji as Vidya Bagchi in 'Kahaani' would have been perfect. The gritty thriller would have had Rani walking around on the streets of Kolkata, looking for her missing husband. And the last shot where Balan dresses up in red bordered white saree? Imagine Rani in it, would have been perfect, no?

  • Rani Mukerji and Saif Ali Khan did play lovers in 'Hum Tum' so casting the duo in 'Love Aaj Kal' would not have been a bad idea. Rani could easily play the independent, career oriented, confused in love Meera, which Deepika Padukone had played. And going by Rani's acting prowess, she would have ace in that role.

  • Chitrangada Singh played the super ambitious copy writer Maya in Sudhir Mishra's 'Inkaar'. Rani would have fit in the role of a corporate woman well with who slaps a case of sexual harassment on her ex boyfriend and former boss. Rani's character would have a bit shrewdness and certain amount of grey shades which would add layers to her performance.

  • We would love to see Rani play a character which has shades of grey in it and that's why Mukerji could have played Krishna Verma in Abhishek Chaubey's 'Ishqiya'. A widowed woman who is forced to cheat two crooks due to circumstances, Mukerji would have played the role perfectly. She anyway has very earthy Indian looks, so the she would have looked the part well.

  • The world was surprised to see Priyanka Chopra's brilliant portrayal as the autistic Jhilmil in Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!'. No one perhaps had expected a superlative performance from Chopra. Rani had mesmerized viewers with her role in 'Black'. If she could play a blind girl with such elan, she would also be able to take up Jhilmil's role brilliantly.

  • We have seen Rani playing the girl next door in many films. But never a seductress who persuades her lover to kill the man whom she beds- a role that Tabu played in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Maqbool'. The role had darker shades to it something that we would love Mukerji to do on screen.

  • Rani would have been the perfect choice for Madhvi Devi's role in 'Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster'. The role was played by Mahie Gill in the film where the actress played an alcoholic woman who after being ignored by her husband falls in love with a family's driver.

  • We know Sridevi's comeback film was just perfect. But Rani could also have played the unsure middle-class housewife who learns English and comes out of her self imposed cocoon well. Sridevi played Sashi with all earnestness, Rani would have played it well as well.

  • Rani did play a gritty no nonsense journalist in %u2018No One Killed Jessica%u2019 but Konkona Sen Sharma%u2019s portrayal of a Page 3 journalist in Madhur Bhandarkar%u2019s %u2018Page 3%u2019 was softer. Ran would have played the naive, moralistic journalist well who comes of age when she people around her changing.
