'Mariyaan' first stills: Dhanush is back with a dark Tamil thriller

Inspired by real life events of Indian migrants taken hostage in Sudan, Dhanush starer Tamil thriller 'Mariyaan' has generated much curiosity in Kollywood ever since its trailer released.
A R Rahman has scored the background music for the Tamil film. An emotional number named 'Vizhithidu Nenje' has been crooned by the music composer himself.
The film stars actor Dhanush in the lead role with Parvathi Menon, and also has actor Salim Kumar playing a prominent role in it.
Produced by Venu Ravichandran, 'Mariyaan' is directed by film maker Bharat Bala and also has actors Appukutty, Jagan and Uma Riyaz Khan playing key roles.
The film in detail revolves around the South Indian fishing community that goes through terrible hardships in countries like Nigeria, Sudan, Libya which borrow them as labor.
Dhanush's character in the film is of a simple and a poor guy who belongs to a very remote village and is in need of a job.
Parvathi Menon plays Dhanush's love interest in the film 'Mariyaan'.
Director Bharat Bala, was inspired by the 2008 French Liberian film 'Johnny Mad Dog', which starred a real life group of LURD child soldiers and subsequently chose to retain them as well as the cinematographer of that film, Marc Koninckx, as a part of 'Mariyaan'.
The audio rights of the film have been bagged by Sony Music.
While Dhanush will be seen playing the role of 'Mariyaan' in the movie, Parvathi Menon will play the character of 'Panimalar'.
