Suchitra Sen was expected to debut with 'Shesh Kothaay' in 1952, but it was never released.
She received a Filmfare nomination for the Best Actress for the movie 'Aandhi', which was released in 1974. The movie was directed by Gulzar.
Sen received many awards for her first Hindi film 'Devdas' (1955). The actor essayed the role of Devdas's childhood love 'Paro' in the film and was immensely appreciated for it.
In the year 1963, the actor won the Best Actress award for the film 'Saptapadi' at the Moscow Film Festival. She played the role of a christian girl named Rina Brown in the film.
Suchitra Sen was conferred with West Bengal government's highest award Banga Bibhushan in 2012.
One of Suchitra's best known performances is in the film 'Deep Jweley Jai' in the year 1959. The actor played the role of Radha, a hospital nurse employed by a progressive psychiatrist. Radha develops a personal relationship with her patients as part of their therapy in the film.
