An icon in Kollywood, an ace actor and a multi-faceted star- we take a look at Vikram Kennedy's 10 magical films as he turn's an year older. Here is a still of Bejoy Nambiar's latest Tamil film 'David' which had the actor playing a Goan fisherman. Though the film did not do that well at the box office, Vikram was immensely appreciated for his role.
The 1999 film 'Sethu' was a tragic love story and had Vikram playing the lead role in it. The actor who played the character of 'Chiyaan' was nominated for Filmfare Special Jury Award for his performance in 2000.
The actor's portrayal of a blind folk singer in Vinayan's 'Kasi' won him the 2001 Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award and the film also did well commercially.
Vikram who was already gaining prominence slowly and steadily was nominated for the Best Tamil Actor by Filmfare in 2003 for his role in the film 'Saamy'.
The actor was also awarded the National Award in the Best Actor category for his role in 'Pithamagan' in the year 2003.
The film 'Ravanan' by veteran director Mani Ratnam featured Vikram in a negative role. The actor played the character of 'Veeraiya' and won the Best Tamil Actor Award by Filmfare for it in 2011.
2011 was an important year for the actor. Tamil film 'Deiva Thirumagal' had Vikram playing a mentally challenged man and he was nominated for the best Tamil Actor Award by Filmfare for the film.
Born as Vikram Kennedy on 17 April 1966, the actor made his debut in the 1990 film 'En Kadhal Kanmani', which was followed by a series of small budget Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films in the 1990s.
Vikram was seen in an unique avatar in the film 'Anniyan' and was also honoured with the Asianet special jury award for this film in 2005.
During his struggling phase, Vikram dubbed for other heroes as well. The photograph is a poster of 1994 Tamil flick 'Kaadhalan' where the actor dubbed for Prabhu Deva.
