Happy birthday Siddharth: The new style icon of Tamil cinema turns 34

Born on April 17, 1979, Siddharth who turns a year older today, started his career as an assistant director in Mani Ratnam's 'Kannathil Muthamittal'.
Siddharth made a debut in acting with Tamil film directed by Shankar titled 'Boys'(2003).He won the IFTA Best New Actor award. The film featured Genelia D'Souza as the leading lady in the film. Siddharth rose to fame with his next Mani Ratnam film 'Aayarha Ezhuthu'(2004) he played a pivotal role along with R Madhavan and Suriya.
The Telugu film 'Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana'(2005) directed by Prabhu Deva proved to be a milestone in Siddharth's career.Trisha Krishnan played his lady love in the film.
The film won the actor Filmfare award for Best Actor.
The Telugu film 'Chukkallo Chandrudu' (2006) directed by debutante Siva Kumar featured Siddharth as a NRI in the film. Veteran actor Akkieni Nageswara Rao played his grandfather in the film. The actor also wrote the screenplay for this film.
Siddharth's lucky streak brought him to Bollywood with Rakeysh Om Praksh Mehra's 'Rang De Basanti'. He was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting actor award and he received the Star Screen Best Debut Male award for his performance in the film.
The Telugu romantic film 'Bommarillu' (2006) starring Siddharth and Genelia proved to be another landmark film in his career. The film established him as one of the leading actors of the South cinema and also nominated him as the Best Telugu Actor by Filmfare Awards.
The chocolate boy image of the actor led him to do similar roles in the films such as 'Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam', 'Aata' and 'Oye'. He romanced leading ladies of the South cinema such as Tamannah, Shamili and others.
Siddharth surprised his fans in the action- drama film 'Striker' (2010). The actor was immensely appreciated for his mettle and his acting skills in the film.
The Telugu love story 'Baava' (2010) directed by film maker Ram Babu showcased Siddharth as a romantic actor. He enacted the role of Lord Krishna in the song sequences of the film.
The Telugu film 'Anaganaga O Dheerudu' (2011) featured Siddharth and Shruti Hassan in leading roles. The film was a fantasy adventure film co-produced by Walt Disney.
The Telugu film 'Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi' is a bilingual film directed by Balaji Mohan. The film that starred Siddharth and Amala Paul as the lead pair was a commercial hit at the Telugu box office.
The cult film in Siddharth's career took place with Deepa Mehta's 'Midnight's Children' (2012). Inspired from Salman Rushdie's novel the Canadian American film potrayed Siddharth as 'Shiva' in the film. The actor's character was hugely appreciated by the audience.
