With a successful career spanning over a decade, Mahesh Babu is now popular name in the Telugu industry, and as the actor continues his cinematic journey we take a look at his earlier work that made him a superstar.
Mahesh Babu was born and brought up in Chennai to prominent Telugu actors Ghatamaneni Siva Rama Krishna and Smt. Indira.
The actor's father made sure his children spent sufficient time with him on location and on his sets, especially during their holidays. Mahesh admits that it was during such trips to the sets that his interest in acting began.
This is the reason why the actor did not hesitate to face the camera when he was asked to do a small role in his brother Ramesh Babu's debut film, 'Needa' at the age of four.
The actor dated Bollywood actress and former Femina Miss India Namrata Shirodkar for five years. The two finally got married on 10 February 2005 in Mumbai.
Mahesh's first leading role was in the film 'Rajakumarudu', which was released in August 1999. The actor also won the Nandi Awards for the Best Male Debut in the same year.
The actor's yet another prolific performance was in the year 2004 in the movie 'Arjun'. Mahesh also won the Nandi Special Jury Award for this film.
Mahesh gave yet another successful hit in the film 'Athadu' for which he won the Nandi Award for the Best Actor in the year 2005. Directed by film maker Trivikram Srinivas the movie also had Trisha Krishnan, Sonu Sood, Nassar and Prakash Raj in equally prominent roles.
In the year 2006, the actor was again in news for his extra ordinary performance as Krishna Manohar aka 'Pandu' in the film 'Pokiri'. Also the actor won the Filmfare Award for the Best Telugu Actor the same year.
In 2007, the actor who was hugely appreciated for his character 'Athidi' opposite Amrita Rao won the CineMAA Awards for the best Male actor.
After a gap of several years, in 2011 he won the Filmfare Awards for the Best Telugu actor, for the film 'Dookudu'.
