Since actors are aware of the stories which viewers will adore, they know which project will get them huge monetary gains. That's why the role of the producer continues to lure many established Bollywood actors.
Amitabh Bachchan had turned producer during his short-term retirement period. He had set up Amitabh Bachchan Corporation, Ltd. (A.B.C.L.) in 1996. It was created with the thought to make it a 10 billion (approx 250 million $US) premier entertainment company by 2000. In addition to 'Tere Mere Sapne', AB Corp Ltd had also produced 'Mrityudaata', 'Major Saab', 'Aks' and 'Viruddh'.
Besides acting in films like 'Lagaan', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Peepli Live', 'Dhobi Ghat', 'Delhi Belly', 'Talaash', 'P.K.', Aamir Khan aka Mr Perfectionist has also produced these projects.
Model turned actor, Dino Morea, who has appeared in 34 films, turned producer for 'Jism 2'.
Shah Rukh Khan turned producer by setting up a production company called Dreamz Unlimited. He formed it with Juhi Chawla and director Aziz Mirza in 1999. But in 2004, the actor transformed the company into Red Chillies Entertainment. Gauri Khan, his wife served as a producer. While 'Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani', 'Asoka', 'Chalte Chalte' were produced under Dreamz Unlimited, 'My Name Is Khan', 'Don 2', 'Ra.One' and 'Chennai Express' were produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.

Akshay Kumar, who has wowed fans for years with his interesting roles, couldn't say no to production. Besides 'Ba Ji In Problem', a Punjabi film which will feature Harbhajan Singh, the actor has also produced 'Oh My God'.
Salman Khan had co-produced his first movie since 'Chillar Party'. He will also be producing the Canadian film 'Dr. Cabbie', which has been directed by Jean Francois Pouliot.
In 2009, Saif Ali Khan ventured into production by setting up his own production company, Illuminati Films with Dinesh Vijan. 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Agent Vinod', 'Cockatil', 'Go Goa Gone' are the films which have been produced under this banner.
After completing a decade in Bollywood, Riteish Deshmukh decided to turn producer. The actor, who made his Bollywood debut with 'Tujhe Meri Kasam', turns producer producer with Marathi film 'Balak Palak'.
The actor's decision to turn producer worked in his favour. In 2012, John Abraham had produced his first project Vicky Donor, which helped him bag a National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Post the positive reaction, he established his own production house, John Abraham Entertainment.
