  • While most of the country will be viewing Shoojit Sircar's espionage film 'Madras Cafe' this week, the film will not be releasing in Tamil Nadu as it has been deemed as 'anti-Tamil' by certain activists. Films in India, time and again, have faced the ire of certain groups which have opposed the release of those films. Here is a look at the other films which have been banned, shunned and stalled.

  • Kamal Hassan's spy thriller 'Vishwaroop' faced criticism and was called anti-Islamic by certain groups. After facing two week ban in Tamil Nadu, Hassan had to eventually edit a few 'objectionable scenes' to get a green signal for its release.

  • Above is a still from the film 'Parzania', a 2007 drama co-written and directed by Rahul Dholakia and David N Donihue. The film starred Naseeruddin Shah and Sarika in the lead roles. It was inspired by the true story of a Parsi boy who disappeared after the February 28, 2002 Gulbarg Society massacre. The film was banned in Gujarat.
