With Winehouses' untimely death, the one cannot help but wonder what went wrong with these stars who died so young. Here are some of the brightest music talents who died before turning 30.

Holly (first from right) and fellow rock %u2018n%u2019 rollers Valensand J.P. 'Big Bopper' Richardson were to perform in Fargo, N.D., on 3rd February, 1959, but their plane crashed in a snowstorm, killing all three musicians. Holly was 22 at his death.

The American singer and songwriter experimented with a variety of drugs and drank heavily throughout her life. She died on 4th October, 1970, at age 27 as a result of drug and alcohol overdose.

The rhythm-and-blues singer was known for a string of hit singles in the mid-1950s before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot in a game of Russian roulette at age 25 on 25th December, 1954.

During Hendrix's short, three-and-a-half-year recording career, he became rock's number one guitarist. He died died of drug complications - mixing alcohol with barbiturates. He was only 27 when he died on 18th September, 1970.

Morrison (second from right)was found dead at the age of 27 in his bathtub by partner Pamela Courson at their apartment in Paris on 3rd July, 1971. No autopsy was performed but it is believed that he died of heart failure induced by drug overdose.

Founder of the Rolling stones and a guitarist Brian Jones was known for his strange outfits and non-stop drug abuse, apart from being outstandingly proficient in music. Jones was the one who came up with the name the Rolling stones for his band with Keith Richards and Mick Jagger and is also said to be the moving force behind the rock band.He died on 3rd July, 1969, aged 27.

The lead singer of the British 'glam rock' band T-Rex was killed instantly when his Mini 1275GT, driven by American singer Gloria Jones, crashed into a tree in London on 16th September, 1977. He was 29.

Well known as the bassist for the band Sex Pistols, was arrested for the murder of Nancy Spungen. After making bail, Vicious attempted suicide by slitting his wrist. Vicious subsequently overdosed on heroine at a party thrown for him and died on the morning of 2nd February, 1979. A suicide note from the 21 year old was found a few days later.

The 'Madonna' of Mexican-American teenagers, Selena was gunned down on 31st March, 1995. The Grammy-winning singer was 23. Jennifer Lopez played the role of 'Selena' in the movie based on her life.

Immensely popular band Nirvana's Cobain was long addicted to drugs, especially heroin.That eventually led him along with depression to take his own life on 5th April, 1994. His body wasn%u2019t discovered until April 8, by an electrician. Cobain was only 27.

Rap music star Tupac Shakur died September 13th September, 1996, a few days after being shot four times while riding in a car in Las Vegas. He was 25.

The latest inclusion in to the famed 'Forever 27' club of rock stars. Winehouse died on 23rd July, 2011. She had a long history of alcohol and drug abuse - so much so that she had been booed off stage in the last concert before her death.
