Stir Up a Storm: While his reel-life graph has only seen an upward curve, Amitabh Bachchan’s real life has been full of ups and downs. From his alleged involvement in the Bofors scam, to the murky land deals, to the extravagant wedding for his son Abhishek, to the VIP darshan in Tirupati, Indian film industry’s legend has been eulogised and criticised all the same. On June 2, 2007, a Faizabad court ruled that he had illegally acquired agricultural land designated specifically for landless Dalit farmers in Uttar Pradesh. He may also be investigated on related charges of forgery. As he has allegedly claimed he was a farmer. If he does not qualify as the owner of agricultural land elsewhere, he may also lose a 20 acre farmhouse property he had purchased at Maval near Pune. But in an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, the actor stoutly denied any unfair practice in the land deals. So while controversies may dog him every now and then, yet this Bachchan never loses his shine. And all this while, his fans have stood by him rock solid. Today, yagnas are held when he falls sick. People revere him, idolise him and for many, he is just like a Living God.
