  • Renault revealed the Duster, a luxury SUV, which is expected to be launched sometime in the middle of this year. This will be manufactured in India at their Chennai plant and will be available with both petrol and diesel engines.

  • Maruti's multi purpose vehicle, the Ertiga is India's first three-row MPV and will be launched by end of March or early April 2012. This seven seater MPV with three rows of seats will have an option of 2, 3/4, 5 and seven seats. It will have a twin air-conditioner unit.

  • Tata Pixel concept car from Tata is a three door gull-winged small car. The 'scissor' doors rotate upwards from the front to allow all four passengers to effortlessly enter or exit the Tata Pixel.

  • The company showcased a new version of Sonata priced in the range of Rs.16-17 lakh which is expected to be launched by February-end. The sedan is powered by a 2.4 litre GDI (gasoline direct injection) petrol engine.

  • Nissan India Private Limited (NIMPL) has unveiled their MPV, the Nissan Evalia at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. Known world-wide as the NV200, the Evalia is Nissan's answer to Mahindra's Xylo and Toyota%u2019s Innova. This MPV will be built at Nissan%u2019s Oragadam plant in Chennai towards the latter half of 2012. Pricing is yet to be declared.

  • The Renault Pulse is essentially a face-lifted Nissan Micra, the difference being that the Pulse will only be launched with a diesel engine. The Pulse will come with a 1.5-litre dCi engine delivering 64PS at 4000rpm and a peak torque of 160Nm at 2000rpm, which Renault claims will deliver a mileage of 23kmpl.

  • Ford unveiled its crossover the Ford EcoSport on the eve of the 2012 Auto Expo at Pragati Maidan. This global compact sports utility vehicle has the same platform as the global Fiesta and is the second in the eight vehicle lineup that Ford plans to launch in India (the first was the Fiesta).

  • The open top SLS AMG, with an eight cylinder V8 engine, can go from 0-100 km per hour in under four seconds and has a top speed of 317 km per hour. "The SLS AMG Roadster has all the trimmings of a formidable sports car," the company said.

  • Rata Tata unveiled the Jaguar C-X75 concept supercar at the Auto Expo. This hybrid supercar is powered by electric motors on all four wheels and is said to give out emissions of less than 99g/km.

  • Hexa Space code named HND-7 is a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) Concept that revolutionises the use of interior space with innovative interior design. The vehicle features eight slim, hexagonally shaped seats that fit together like puzzle pieces, maximising internal space while minimising vehicle width. The centre seat in the first two rows of Hexa Space is positioned slightly behind the seats on either side, allowing passengers to sit three-abreast without feeling cramped.
