A car, with an interior that has been converted into a bedroom, sits mounted on four-metre-high poles outside an Amsterdam hotel. Italian artist Federico D'Orazio turned the small family car into a cosy love nest to encourage more love in the city of Amsterdam.

'Hotel Everland' (R), a creation by Swiss artists Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann, is craned on the roof of Paris Modern Art Museum, the 'Palais de Tokyo, site de creation contemporaine'. The "Hotel Everland" is an art installation consisting of an actual one-room hotel offering 1970s-style glamour, artistic cachet, a view of the Eiffel Tower and will remain in place on the roof of the museum until November 2008, functioning as both a museum exhibit and a room where people can stay overnight.

The Cabin is seen under construction on the site of Treehotel in the Swedish village of Harads. A lofty new hotel concept is set to open in a remote village in northern Sweden, which aims to elevate the simple treehouse into a world-class destination for design-conscious travellers. Treehotel, located in Harads about 60 km south of the Arctic Circle, will consist of four rooms when it opens on July 17th: The Cabin, The Blue Cone, The Nest and The Mirrorcube.

A general view inside "The Merlion Hotel", an art installation by Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi, in Singapore. The art installation, which is part of the Singapore Biennale, comprises of a luxurious temporary hotel room built around the iconic Singapore landmark, the Merlion (R). It will host overnight guests from April 4 to May 5 at S$150 ($118) a night and will be opened to public in the day during that period.

Caravans turned into sleeping accommodations are pictured in the indoor camping hotel Huettenpalast in Berlin. A 200 square meter production hall of a small vacuum-cleaner factory was used to create an indoor garden where guests can sleep in old caravans and wooden huts. A night in Huettenpalast hotel located in Berlin's Neukoelln district will cost from 30 euros per person.

Eric Wong, managing director of a capsule bed manufacturer, poses in a modified capsule bed inside a showroom in Hong Kong. The beds, which are modified for the Hong Kong market, have adjustable ceilings, a larger air conditioner and a TV. They are aimed at university students and budget mainland Chinese travellers visiting the territory and will cost $450 a month or $30 a night, according to the manufacturer.

Local Manager Gisela Olsson makes a bed in one of the standard rooms in the Jumbo Hostel at Arlanda Airport, Stockholm. Jumbo Hostel is a Boeing 747-200 jumbo jet that has been converted into a 25 room hotel and cafe and the cockpit has been converted into a de luxe suite.

An employee of the Mikazuki hotel group poses in an 18k gold bathtub during a press preview of one of six golden bathtubs in Kisarazu, east of Tokyo. Japan's top bullion house Tanaka Kikinzoku Jewelry K.K. has created the 1.2 metres (4 ft) long, 65 cm (2 ft) deep and 50 kg (110 lb) of gold for the tub, worth 120 million yen ($1.1 million) apiece, for the hotel chain which is hoping the glittering tub will help draw more visitors to its seaside hot springs.

A woman passes the 'Eh'haeusl' hotel (C red building) in the Bavarian village of Amberg, southern Germany. The newly refurbished hotel, which claims to be the worlds smallest, comprises of seven levels in a 280 year-old building, with a width of 2.5 metres, a floor space of 20 square meters and a living space of 53 square meters. A night in the hotel costs 195 euros including breakfast, which is cooked by a member of staff.
