Birthday bumps: Heading the new league of directors, Anurag Kashyap turns 40

From a TV series writer to one of the most respected directors of Bollywood, Anurag Kashyap turns 40 years old today. It was on the sets of 'Dev D', that he met Kalki Koechlin whom he is now married to.
Directed by Kashyap, 'Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1' released in 2012, received critical acclaim and turned out to be one of the most popular films of the year.
The film was so long, that it was made into two parts released within a few weeks of each other. However, 'Gangs of Wasseypur Part 2' was met with mixed reactions.
Anurag Kashyap is not restricted to directing, he has acted, produced and written films too. The story of 'Aiyyaa', an upcoming film that marks Rani Mukherjee's comeback, has also been written by Kashyap.
Anurag Kashyap has often cast his wife in his films. A still from 'The Girl in Yellow Boots' written by Kashyap, where Kalki Koechlin plays masseur in a shady parlour.
'Shaitan' that once again stars his second wife Kalki Koechlin, was produced by Anurag Kashyap.
'Udaan' considered to be one of Kashyap's best works is in fact, a true story about his life. He wrote and produced the film.
Anurag Kashyap is the story writer and director of the film 'Gulaal' that starred Kay Kay Menon, Raj Singh Chaudhary, Abhimanyu Singh, Deepak Dobriyal.
Apart from being a director, writer and producer, Anurag Kashyap has also done several roles in films such as 'I Am'.
Kashyap also played a negative role of a gangster in the film 'Shagird' co-starring Nana Patekar. On his 40th birthday, Anurag Kashyap has two reasons to celebrate: The success of 'Wasseypur' and the upcoming film 'Lootera'.
