'Saawariya' to 'Barfi!': Is Ranbir Kapoor the next superstar?

Raj Kapoor's grandson, Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most promising young actors we have in Bollywood today. Within five years of his Bollywood career, Ranbir has alredy become a threat for the Khans.

Ranbir Kapoor's next film 'Barfi!' will hit the screens on September 14, 2012. He plays a deaf and mute young man in the film.

From an interesting YouTube application to his special appearances on various TV shows, Ranbir Kapoor knows the tricks of grabbing eyeballs. All his fans are eagerly waiting for the film.

Ranbir Kapoor says his directors have a big share in his success, as he just follows their instructions. Like every successful actor, he likes to observe people around him and take inspiration from them.

Thanks to his impressive performance in Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar', Ranbir Kapoor won the best actor trophy at every award function last year. However, Ranbir claims that he is not overconfident.

During a press conference lately, Ranbir Kapoor said, "If I become overconfident, then my acting prowess and talent will go away. So I pray for anxiety and nervousness even after 20 years."

Ranbir Kapoor made his Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya' in 2007. Though the film failed commercially, but Ranbir managed to impress critics and was awarded with the Best Male Debut trophy by Filmfare.

Ranbir Kapoor, who is famous for his various link-ups, was seen romancing Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba in 'Bachna Ae Haseeno'. He was in a relationship with Deepika at that time.

Ranbir Kapoor won accolades again for his performance in 'Wake Up Sid'. The film revolves around his transition from a young boy to a man.

Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone called him a Casanova on Karan Johar's show. He was also rumoured to be in a relationship with his 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' co-star Katrina Kaif. However, Ranbir has learnt to keep his personal and professional life different now. Lately, during a press conference he said, "See, my motive is to let my film talk. I don't tell others to write about my affairs nor do I decide it."

Experimentation is the key to success in B-Town. Be it the Khans or the Kapoors, these days all the actors try to reinvent themselves with every film. Ranbir played a frail, Sikh salesman in 'Rocket Singh'.

His intense performance helped him stand out in the multi-starrer 'Rajneeti'.

Ranbir Kapoor tries to play different characters on screen. In 'Anjaana Anjaani' he played a failed entrepreneur who wants to commit suicide.

Contrary to his image, Ranbir Kapoor was seen as a 'mawali' in his item number 'Tai tai Phish' from 'Chillar Party', which earned him many more fans.

And then came 'Rockstar'. Ranbir Kapoor totally redefined his ability as an actor with this film. From playing an introvert, struggling singer to a mean Rockstar, Ranbir was beyond brilliance in the film.

He will be next seen in Karan Johar's 'Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani' with Deepika Padukone.
