Taj Mahal in Dubai: 4 times the size, $1 billion to build

The $1 billion replica of the Taj Mahal that developers are planning to build in Dubai will be four times bigger than the original monument. The replica - Taj Arabia - will include one million sq ft of retail space besides a 300-room hotel.
According to Link Global, the company behind the project, there are plans to build a replica of the Taj Mahal in Dubai's $36.5 billion Falcon City of Wonders - a multi-purpose project being developed in Dubai that also includes replicas of other wonders of the world.
When complete, Taj Arabia will be four times the size of India's architectural marvel in Agra, according to reports.
Dubai Eiffel Tower would hold the central location of the falcon commercial sector which hosts commercial, residential, recreational and retail elements.
The Dubai Grand Pyramid will be a multi functional complex housing residences, offices and other recreational avenues.
Dubai Tower of Pisa is another wonder monument in the Falconcity of Wonders.
The lost lost ancient wonder, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, will house eco-friendly luxury flats, with many open-air restaurants and coffee shops, with the garden overlooking the falconcity Mall.
The Town of Venice is also being recreated in Dubai.
The lost wonder of the Lighthouse of Alexandria is also being resurrected as a replica at the Falcon City of Wonders.
The Great Wall of China also finds a place in Falcon City of Wonders. It will be higher than a 3 story building and stretch over 1700 Meters.
The project is slated for completion in 2014. The infrastructure work for the project is almost complete with construction work on ground expected to begin in the first quarter of 2014.
