General Motors has launched the Aveo U-VA replacement - the Sail hatchback in India. It is priced at Rs 4.4 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 5.87 lakh for the diesel, ex-Delhi.

Powering the hatchback are two engine options - 1.2l SMARTECH 86PS petrol and 78PS 1.3l turbodiesel.

The petrol motor claims to deliver an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl while the diesel is pegged at 22.1kmpl.

As of now, there are no plans of a CNG-kit fitted Sail U-VA.

"The Sail U-VA has been designed for the Indian market and we have test driven the car for 10 lakh km in India before launching it," said General Motors India
President and Managing Director Lowell Paddock, adding the sedan version of the
car would be launched by the end of the year.

The top-end trims have twin airbags and ABS with EBD for the safety factor while as far as creature comforts are concerned, there is a Bluetooth-enabled music system with handsfree and streaming and remote keyless entry.
