Britney Jean Spears is an American pop icon. She was born on December 2, 1981 in Mississippi (US).
Britney is the second child of Lynne Irene and James Parnell Spears.
Britney's started attending dance classes at the tender age of three. Probably this led her to become one of the finest stage performers of all time.
Britney Spears made her stage debut when she was five. She had sung 'What Child Is This' on her debut.
Off-Broadway musical 'Ruthless!' was her first professional performance.
The year 1999 changed Britney's life forever when her first single 'Baby one more time' released.
She also received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for 'Baby one more time'.
She achieved whatever was left with her second album 'Oops I did it again' in 2000.
'Oops I did it again' debuted at number one in the US, selling 1.3 million copies. It instantly became the chartbuster and ruled the charts for several weeks.
Britney married Kavin Federline in 2004. They called it off in 2007.
Her immense popularity among the youngsters inspired the makers to take her as the female lead in 'Crossroads'.
She also founded a charitable trust for child welfare which was later closed in 2011.
Her critics say that Britney became the victim of constant public gaze. However, she later tried her best to come out of her bad phase. Her last album 'Femme Fatale' came in 2011.
