'Spirit' to 'Kumki': 15 biggest Southern blockbusters in 2012

Directed by Prabu Solomon, 'Kumki' marked the debut of actor Vikram Prabhu and also showed Lakshmi Menon in the lead role.
With Rs 20 crore to its name Tamil movie 'Podaa Podi' did well at the box office. It starred Silambarasan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead roles.
Malayalam movie 'Spirit', a satirical film, is written and directed by Ranjith. The film primarily focuses on the increasing habits of alcoholism in Kerala. Staring actor Mohanlal, the film is much talked about for the choice of its plot.
'Thattathin Marayathu', a musical romantic film by Vineeth Sreenivasan, starred Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar in the lead roles. This Malayalam film got an extra-ordinary reception at the Box-Office.
'Thappana' starred Malayalam superstar Mammootty and it was one of the biggest hits of the actor in recent times.
'Ustad Hotel' had malayalam actors Nithya Menon and Dulquer Salman in the lead roles. The film revolved around the strong bond between Karim, a Sufi Muslim, and his grandson Faizi.
'Eega', a 2012 Telugu romantic fantasy flick, is written and directed by S S Rajamouli. Starring actors Sudeep, Samantha and Nani in lead roles, the movie earned Rs 125 crore at the box office.
'Neethaane En Ponvasantham' a soft romantic Tamil movie. It starred Jiiva and Samantha in the lead roles.
Telugu movie 'Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu' also remained one of the top South Indian movies this year. It starred Pawan Kalyan and Tamanna in the lead roles.
Tamil film 'Nanban' featured actors Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana D'Cruz, Sathyan and Sathyaraj in key roles. It became the talk of the town.
With a groping turn out of Rs 172 crore at the box office Telugu movie 'Gabbar Singh' starred Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles.
With a turn out of Rs 15 crore at the box office Telugu movie 'Dhenikaina Ready' also became a successful venture.
'Anna Bond' was a power packed Kannada movie which had Puneeth Rajkumar, Nidhi Subbaiah and Priyamani in the lead roles. It also emerged as the winner at the ticket window.
Kannada movie 'Addhuri' too became a huge hit in the southern part of the country in 2012.
3D Kannada movie 'Katari Veera Surasundarangi' had superstar Upendra and Ramya in the lead roles. It tasted success at the cinema halls.
