From Shabana Azmee in 'Makdee' to Kareena Kapoor in 'Omkara' to now Anushka Sharma in 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola'- women in Vishal Bhardwaj's films have had a distinct looks. Each very defined and earthy.
Vishal Bhardwaj's chose a children's film to make his debut as a director and completely transforms Shabana Azmi to an extend that she is unrecognizable.
Tabu played Nimmi, a mistress to a underworld don, who is secretly in love with don's right hand man. The look was simple and she mostly stuck to white chikankari indian outfits.
Kareena Kapoor had never looked so divine before. As the love interest of the main protagonist in 'Omkara', Kareena donned the simple small town girl's look. From the beautiful salwar kameezes, to the kohl eyes, to the long tresses, Kareena looked simple yet elegant.
'Omkara' also had Konkona playing a village woman. The look was basic but Konkona looked absolutely convincing the dutiful, simple, endearing Indu.
Bipasha Basu as the dancer Billo provided the oomph factor in 'Omkara'. Her look was diametrically opposite from what the other two leading ladies looked in the film. Having lost weight, Bipasha looked a million bucks in the 'Bidi Jalaile' song.
A little girl called Shreya Sharma played Biniya in 'Chhatri Chor' and held her fort against a veteran like Pankaj Kapur. Set in Himachal Pradesh, the story was of Biniya and her blue umbrella.
Priyanka Chopra played the adventurous marathi mulgi Sweety in 'Kaminey' who was ready to fight her family for her love. We loved her girl-next-door avatar in the film.
Vishal Bhardwaj did not direct 'Ishqiya' but wrote and produced the film and changed the way widows were presented in films. The talented Vidya Balan played a widow who had negative shades to her character.
Priyanka pulled an ace with her amazing performance in '7 Khoon Maaf'. The film was dark and Priyanka's character had varied shades and narrated the story of Susanna and her seven husbands.
Priyanka played a girl who meets 7 different men in her life and how she falls in love and marries them. The actress donned 7 distinct looks for the film- from a young girl to an aging woman.
Vishal Bhardwaj's latest film 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' has Anushka Sharma sporting a desi-meets-grunge look. The actress sports some quirky tattoos, wears lehengas, has blue highlights in her hair.
