Thanks to sponsorship and support from people like you, Asha lives in an SOS Children’s Village in a loving home with a caring mother to take care of her and her siblings who are parentless like her.

Advertorial: Hitachi, the AC which cleans itself

Dust and dirt are possibly the worst enemies of an air conditioner. The dirt which gets stuck in the AC clogs the filter and ultimately leads to poor cooling, increased power consumption, and reduced air volume. Eventually the worse follows. Your AC maintenance costs surge and chances are that you’ll be left with that unpleasant odor rather than the soothing chill you always wanted from your AC.

Keeping all this in mind the Japanese technology major Hitachi has rolled out a range of self-cleaning air conditioners. Launched under the brand name of iClean, these ACs are intelligent, new-age machines which clean themselves by the means of Automatic Filter Cleaning Technology. The interior structure of these ACs is made of stainless steel and is equipped with an advanced cleaning mechanism which ensures that the filter fitted in the AC is meticulously cleaned so that the supply of fresh, clean, cool and soothing air never ceases.

Advertorial: P&G's 'Shiksha' Educational Drive - Building Blocks towards Advancement

When it comes to education, ours is a country plagued with dual problems: One is that of enrollment – India has amongst the highest number of out-of-school children in the world – and the second and even more alarming problem is that of drop-outs. In India, just 54 per cent children in the age group 11-14 years are enrolled in schools and a shocking 50 per cent of those who do enroll drop out by class VII.

Our nation needs educational infrastructure that enables millions of children to not only access their right to education but also encourage them to pursue it in a manner that truly empowers them to steer the future of our country. It is to address both these issues that Procter & Gamble launched its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program Shiksha in 2005, that has today taken shape into a national consumer movement.
