PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary A Anbazhagan said that private schools in the UT have deliberately not been promoting some students to Class 10, to project cent per cent pass for the school in the final examinations.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, he said that parents of average students, who they suspect may not perform well in the final exams, would be called to the school and given an option to pass Class nine and transfer certificates to admit their wards in other schools.
But, no other schools were ready admit these students and the parents were put to severe hardships, he said.
Alleging that the schools were minting money by projecting cent per cent pass, Anbazhagan demanded that the government take stringent action them.
He said the government was yet to announce a committee for streamlining fee structure for private schools, which fleece parents with exorbitant fees and violate government norms.
He suggested that the Education Department set up complaint boxes in private schools for parents.
