CJ Show: Uphaar tragedy and the quest for justice
The Uphaar Cinema fire,occurred on Friday, June 13, 1997 at Uphaar Cinema in Delhi, during the screening of a movie. Trapped inside, 59 people died, mostly due to suffocation, and 103 were seriously injured in the resulting stampede.The families of victims are still grappling with the horrors of that fateful day. Every year, on June 13, these families gather to remember their loved ones. Their quest for justice continues even today!

Mohammad Gulfam, a Delhi resident, was separated from his wife of thirty years because the two didn't file the proper legal documentation for a transnational marriage. Nuzhat Jahan left her native Pakistan for India three decades ago to marry Gulfam. She's now 48 years old the mother of 3 children, and has lived in purani dilli for more than half of her life. Nuzhat was arrested on 1 May by the Indian Government and kept in Tihar jail for six long days, after which she was to be deported back to her motherland of Pakistan. Instead, she's been all but exiled to a beggar home while waiting for her case to be resolved.
