The name Ferrari has featured on the Formula 1 grid since the inception of the championship in 1950. The team carries over a plethora of history as it attempts to capture the championship with Felipe Massa and last season's runner-up Fernando Alonso.
Enzo Ferrari, a shrewd businessman, founded the Italian outfit in 1929 and his legacy still reverberates in the engines today. Undoubtedly, the team from Maranello has been one of the most successful squad in F1 history. With many titles, both as a constructor and for its drivers, the Stefano Domenicali-led team will try to add numerous feathers in its rich crown in years to come.
From 2000 to 2004, Ferrari usurped all championships under the brilliant collaboration of Jean Todt, Ross Brawn and a certain German driver named Michael Schumacher.
In the latter half of the decade, the Prancing Horse has won just one drivers' and two constructors' titles, a performance that hardly justifies its past. With the much sought after Spaniard now in the Scuderia stable and the 2008 runner-up as his teammate, the Scarlet team will look to regain its glorious status in this season.
With Alonso's magical 2012 season in the bank, a lot more is now expected of the Italian team in its final year on V8 engines. And the F138, named after the outgoing V8s, is ready to pay a perfect tribute.
