Bikini-clad wife puts Roddick in the shade

Miami: Andy Roddick was initially bitter when his wife Brooklyn Decker graced the cover of Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue last month in a tiny yellow bikini -- and it was not because of her skimpy attire.

The eighth-ranked Roddick has never appeared on the cover of the weekly magazine, not even after the American won his first grand slam title at the 2003 U.S. Open.

Chennai: Kerala's cricket may have received a shot in the arm with little-known Rendezvous Sports World Limited adding commercial hub Kochi to the Indian Premier League, but legendary sprint queen P T Usha sees it as pure business and a dampener to the efforts to revive the state's glorious past in athletics.

"Those who invested money in the IPL look for profits. The players will never feel that they are representing the country. If I invest my money, I will surely look for ways to recover the investment," Usha said.

New Delhi: Senior Indian forward Prabhjot Singh has apologised for his improper behaviour during the hockey World Cup when he was caught showing his middle finger to a section of crowd.

Prabhjot, after India's defeat against Argentina on March 12, was heckled by some fans near the eastern stand, and in the heat of the moment he showed to them his finger.

New Delhi: India's badminton ace Saina Nehwal created history to break into top five of the world badminton rankings at the All England Badminton Championship.

Saina is the first Indian woman to reach semifinals of the prestigious All England Open. However, she failed to qualify to the finals after she was beaten by Tine Rasmussen, the 2008 champion and 2009 runners-up.

New Delhi: World number one Vijender Singh (75kg) fought through a bleeding nose to clinch his first international gold medal in two years as Indian pugilists made a clean sweep in the finals to win the overall team title at the fifth Commonwealth Boxing Championships on Wednesday.

With Asian champion Suranjoy Singh (52kg), South Asian Games gold medallist Amandeep Singh (49kg), Asian silver medallist Jai Bhagwan (60kg) and Paramjeet Samota (+91kg) also triumphing in the finals, it turned out to be an all-win day for the hosts in front of a houseful crowd.

New Delhi: Australia won the men's hockey World Cup for the first time since 1986 by defeating holders Germany 2-1 in an absorbing final on Saturday.

Luke Doerner scored the winner in the 59th minute through a penalty corner for Australia, who were beaten by top-ranked Germany in the previous two World Cups finals in 2002 and 2006.
