Based on a UK game show ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan made his television debut with the show in the year 2000. TV writer-producer Don Brinkley dies at 91

New York: Television writer and producer Don Brinkley, who created the CBS series Trapper John, M D, died here on Saturday. He was 91. He was the stepfather of supermodel and occasional actress Christie Brinkley. Don was also a significant contributor to another doctor-centered show of the 1970s, Medical Center, starring actor Chad Everett, reported the New York Daily News.

Born in the Bronx, Donald Alan Brinkley was a journalist for CBS Radio News and worked in television since the early days of the medium, penning episodes of Dick Tracy and The Cisco among other shows in the early 1950s. The Museum of Broadcasting in New York also honoured Brinkley with a career retrospective in 1988.

New Delhi: Taking forward the 'Satyamev Jayate' initiative, actor Aamir Khan called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday. He highlighted the plight of manual scavengers. After meeting the Prime Minister, Aamir said that the Prime Minister has assured him that he'll address the issue.

"I met the Prime Minister today on the manual scavenging issue. I requested that measures should be taken to end this practice, the PM has assured me that steps will be taken," Aamir said.

The actor-producer talked about the fears attached to old age and the difficult survival of elderly members of the society.

Mumbai: Archana Vijaya, who has been voted out of the 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5', says that Isha Sharvani may win this season of the dance reality show. "I am not disappointed for the early exit. When I came back from the show, my body was swelled. I am resting now. I am not sad as everything happens for a reason," Archana told IANS.

When asked who is the stronger contender, she said: "I think Isha Sharvani will win the show, she is a lovely girl...dances so well...her body is flexible..."

Mumbai: Popular anchor Archana Vijaya became the latest contestant to be eliminated from dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. She was paired with choreographer Sanam Johar for the show, aired on Colors.

Archana was an average performer, but tried hard to get her moves right. She impressed judges Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, and Remo D'Souza with her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. She is the third contestant to be eliminated out of the show after ghazal singer Talat Aziz and Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya.

New Delhi: Two celebrity contestants Talat Aziz and Sanath Jayasuriya have already been eliminated from the fifth season of dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5’. Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Remo D’Souza are judging the contestants this year.

Last week, all the participants were asked to represent different zodiac signs through their performances.
