Were the Gujarat Assembly elections more about personalities than issues?

Modi's personality is taller than any other leader in Gujarat. His achivements for the state still rank much taller then the claims made by his adversaries. His ruthless decimation of the opposition and his own dissidents in the part has certainly catapulted him to the big league of politicians at the centre. A person as distant at Chennai feels the resonance created by him.
