Ugly Aur Pagli

Well if you have had a tiring week at work then make sure not to catch up with this movie as it adds to your frustration. To be honest its not all that really bad but some this so called laugh riot falls prey to some mindless script writing where it is dragged to a black hole destination of sorts from where it is unable to recover from.
Now , coming to the fact that it is copied straight from a Korean movie “My sassy girl”. Well 1 out of every 3 hindi comedy movies are copied today Priyadarshan remakes all his Malayalam movies to hindi and we have all seen how they have all bombed at the box office. So lets stop complaining about this copying stuff and allow the movie to resign to its own fate.
Coming to the plot,
Kabir (Ranvir hShorey) is raised by his parents to a certain age as a girl.He is a carefree guy who has been studying engineering for the past 10 years. And now after seeing so may movies you would be dumb enough if you dint guess that he meets a girl completely different from the way he is.Here enters Kuhu(Mallika Sherawat) who , is on a drinking binge to overcome the pain of a failed romance. Kabir always wanted a girl to love but he never in his wildest dreams thought he would encounter a girl who could make him dance around circles, run semi naked, ride cycles without seats, wear high heeled ladies shoes and not to forget the slaps whose motive is to make u laugh(is he making a film for the children of 5th grade?). Ranvir wants to see Kuhu happy and does everything she wants him to, all for her happiness
.The film is differnt from the stereotype boy meets girl,story,(the usual meeting in vcafes,fighting a hundred goondas,opposition from parents),yet it fails to capitalize on a new idea.The 1ast half is quite decent and satisfactory.. The 2nd half is completely bizarre and the film takes a U turn. The sluggishness of the film irritates you more. The film heavily lies on its protagonists and Ranvir shourie carries on from where he left behind in Mithya .He plays his role with so much ease .Its a pleasure to watch an actor like him. Mallika sherwat does justice to her role especially in the comedy scenes . A Black mark for Pritish nandy films who have given us some wonderful movies like Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi and pyaar ke side effects.

Sometimes, you simply don't know what to make of a movie. "Ugly and Pagli", just happens to be one of those. With promising promos and a start serving as a perfect appetizer for what's coming up next,"Ugly and Pagli" spirals down into an incoherent mix of some funny, some over-the-top(Shorey in a petticoat..anyone?), some tender moments and oh.. not to forget some ridiculously timed songs. And amid all this are two tremendously talented actors-Ranvir Shorey and Mallika Sherawat who try hard to rise above a screenplay that simply provides very little scope for some sparkling chemistry between the two. In the end, there is very little in terms of the unusual relationship between the two characters, that you can empathize with.

Seating on my seat in the theatre before the film starts, I thought Ugli Aur Pagli would have been made re-magic of Pyar Ke Side Effects. But Ugli Aur Pagli is waste of time and money. Nothing special in this film, we actually see a bad re-visit of Pyar Ke Side Effects by Pritish Nandy Company. Bollywood has experienced many romantic comedy hits but Ugli Aur Pagli is certainly a flop. We get Bored before the Interval as the story has no boundary. Mallika Sherawat has some sense of acting but she is not better. Keeping of the low budget hit films of Ranvir Shorey such as Bheja Fry, Mithya etc. He has just wasted his time and his talent in this film. This film can be called as a superstitious comedy as it has no boundary for its story. A failed film with zero direction, production. screenplay and cinematography; The only thing a like in this film is TALLI song the music. I agree with Masand but I will go with just 1 and a 1/2 with this film. Dont watch this film but book ticket for any other film.

Ugly aur pagli, a light hearted romatic comedy if you buy it. But actually it was the same old story about a guy and a gal being friend but not knowing that its love. The plot could have been more interesting had kabir had guts to slap kuhoo once and find another girl. I mean how can some one have such a low self esteem to be got slapped 99times and still love the girl. on the other hand there are few light moments in the movie but it was only because the talent Ranvir shoery has. mallika sheravt is as usual, not much new thing but i think this is what mallika can deliver from acting, keeping kisses and item numbers apart.
I feel only guys who can get some credit for this movie are the crew mambers who tolarated the shooting of this movie for many months.
I totally agree with masand about the rating he has give, keeping in mind masand can be generous sometimes :D
in all its a movie you would like to watch if only you are a die hard fan of mallika sherawat.
