As concern over Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's health grew with doctors attending him saying he is critical, parts of Mumbai wore a deserted look. Shops were shut at Dadar, Mahim and Bandra. The Shiv Sena workers also asked residents of Dardar, Mahim and Matunga to dismantle Diwali lights.
