World Wipes: al-Jazeera airs new Osama audiotape

New Delhi: The United Nations has asked for an explanation from Pakistan on the allegations of human rights violations during the military operation, Operation Silence, inside the Lal Masjid. A new audiotape believed to be from al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been aired on al-Jazeera television. In the recorded message, Laden has called for insurgents in Iraq to unite for a common cause. Forest fires continue to rage across Southern California and at least 2.5 lakh people have been forced to flee their homes in the last 48 hours.
